For all parents:
Virginia's annual three-day sales tax holiday starts this Friday, August 3, at 12:01 a.m. and ends the following Sunday, August 5, at 11:59 p.m. During the sales tax holiday, shoppers can buy qualifying school supplies ($20 or less per item) and clothing and footwear ($100 or less per item) without paying sales tax. More information is HERE.
Also: The BMS supply list is attached.
For parents of 6th graders:
Effective July 1, 2014, a booster dose of Tdap vaccine is required for all children entering the 6th grade. Information is HERE.
Without this information your student cannot start school on August 22.
Here is info that the county sent out (hopefully you received it):
Prior to the start of school on August 22, all incoming sixth grade students are required by the State of Virginia to provide documentation that they have received a booster dose of the Pertussis-containing vaccine Tdap. Students will not be able to start school until the appropriate documentation has been provided to the middle school they will attend.
If you are unsure if your child has received the Tdap immunization, call your pediatrician’s office or your child’s middle school. If your child has already received the vaccine, you may obtain the required documentation from your child’s doctor.
The Albemarle County Health Department, located at 1138 Rose Hill Drive in Charlottesville, will offer two immunization clinics for K-12 students this August:
