General Announcements
This is the second of two emails sent tonight. This first one provided information about parent conferences on October 17 and 24. This email contains other general announcements.
1. If/when your student is absent please call the school at 295-5101 to alert us. You can leave a message, or you can speak with our attendance clerk, Ms. Stephanie Grady. When you call the school, we can code the absence correctly, and the absence will not be recorded as “unexcused” or “unverified.”
2. Parks & Recs info:

- Information about Volleyball (January 27 – March 19, 2020) will come out soon.
- All info from Albemarle County Parks & Rec is HERE.
3. Please consider making a donation to our school’s donation drive run by our PTO. Our goal is $10,000.00, and just under $3000.00 has been donated (by 10% of our families). 100% of the donation goes to school materials, resources, field trip scholarships, and PTO programs for students and teachers. A copy of the donation form is attached below. Please donate what you can. Any amount is appreciated.
4. I also have a file below concerning information about linking Giant grocery store customer cards to Burley Middle School. If you shop at any other grocery store, please find out how your card can be linked to BMS!

5. We will host a Family Game night on Friday, 10/25, from 4:05 – 6:00 p.m. in our Media Center. This event is free for students, and parents are invited too. Siblings are invited as well as long as a parent attends the event.
6. Our Media Center Specialist, Mr. Hipple, is helping with a horror unit right now with 6th grade Language Arts. Students are analyzing horror fiction, writing their own, and even performing some of it – and they plan to place QR codes for the performances throughout the library. If you have any “surplus” (and school appropriate) Halloween decorations lying around that you wouldn't mind donating, please send it in to Mr. Hipple.
