Events In February
Can January really be over? Is it really February already? The school year (and even 2020) is flying by, and we have a lot of things coming up.
1. First, February is Black History Month, and since Burley is a part of Black History, we are offering tours of our building led by student tour guides throughout the month. If you are interested in participating in a tour and learning more about our building, you can sign up for a tour by clicking HERE. Use the code 0901 to access the sign up page.
2. You can also take a self-guide tour during an evening event on Monday, February 10, and no sign up is required. That event will start at 5:30 p.m., and it will include self-guided tours, a circle event with drumming, student artwork in the Media Center, and light refreshments. I will send more information about that in an upcoming message.
3. The first week of February is also National School Counseling week, so we be celebrating with our Counseling Department this week to thank them for their work.
4. Our Art Department is sponsoring a Game Night in the Media Center after school on Friday, February 7. This event is free from 4:05 to 6:00 p.m. Parents and siblings are invited to attend (if younger children attend, a parent must be present to supervise). We will sell refreshments and pizza (while supplies last). Students are welcome to bring a favorite game; however, we will have many board and other games on hand.
5. Other events this month:
February 7: 6th Grade dance
February 12: All-County String Jamboree (for participating strings students)
February 14: 7th Grade dance
February 15: District Jazz Assessment (for participating jazz band students)
February 21: 8th Grade dance
February 28: ICA Day (Intramurals, Clubs, and Activities)
February 29: WinterSongs Concert (at MHS) to benefit the Shelter for Help in Emergency (for participating chorus students)
