The Latest Updates
1. Dr. Haas spoke to Les Sinclair at WINA about our extended school closure: Listen HERE.
2. Extended closure – beyond 4/10? Possible? Likely? There has been no decision yet. However, I understand that ACPS Lead Coaches will be meeting with building level content area lead teachers and department chairs this week to discuss how we could offer instruction IF we do remain closed. Once I know more about this, I will send out an update.
3. Check & Connect: Above and beyond any contact from teachers concerning enrichment activities and review work, Homeroom teachers will also be checking in once per week with their students just to see how everyone is doing. Please remind students to check their gmail accounts – this might not be a havit with them – but it is probably how most teachers will reach out.
4. Laptop/charger needs/issues: If a student needs a charger and/or laptop service, I understand that the Dept of Technology is developing a schedule as to where/when they would be at ACPS locations to offer service. Once that schedule comes out, I will pass it on.
5. Meals for students: As you are likely aware by now, a schedule has been established for the availability of meals – click HERE.
6. Info for Parents re: Setting up Notifications on Schoology: When teachers post information on the Schoology classroom accounts, students can set it up so that they receive notification. Information is HERE – and that information includes this bit of information:
“A suggested strategy for families is to have students add their parent’s cell phone number in step 3. Once the app is installed, have the student help you log in to the Schoology account. That way parents will receive notifications through the phone app and the student will receive notifications through email to their k12albemarle account.”
7. Supporting Student Learning During Our Closure is HERE.
8. Support Cville is an active resource of ways locals can help and get help: “We will get through this together.” Their site is HERE
Stay tuned -- and stay healthy! : )
