Information for This Weekend
I will send out more information later about the school year later. For now, I thought I’d send out something a little different – some links and info that you and your family might find interesting for this weekend.
1. For as long as schools are closed, you can enjoy unlimited streaming of hundreds of titles for kids and families at Audible for free. Information is HERE.
2. Some of our students were to visit Staunton in April to see “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at the Blackfriars Playhouse. It turns out that they will be livestreaming the 90-minute production on their Facebook, this Sunday, 3/22, at 1:45 p.m.
3. The 2019 Hoos basketball national championship is going to be re-aired on Sunday on CBS. Information is HERE.
4. Practice social distancing in nature. Interior Secretary David Bernhardt this week waived entrance fees at national parks, so there is no fee to enter Shenandoah National Park. Information is HERE.
5. One sure fire way to reduce stress in the coming days is to spend time with pets – so we have posted our teachers’ pets on Instagram. Check out the pictures: @BurleyPics. Also, if you are interested in adopting or fostering a pet, the SPCA is open BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. If interested, call them at 434-973-5959.
6. Support Cville is an active resource of ways locals can help and get help: “We will get through this together.” Their site is HERE
7. Interested in free field trips to Anne Frank House, Buckingham Palace, the Great Wall of China, the Louvre Museum, Mount Everest, the Statue of Liberty and more? Click HERE.
8. The Georgia Aquarium has a number of live webcams for some very tranquil viewing. Check it out HERE.
9. Here’s an article from NPR: “Here’s A List Of Free Things That Weren’t Free Before Coronoavirus”: HERE.
10. Finally, one news item related to school: The federal government has waived all federal requirement for standardize testing in public schools this year. Information is HERE.
