Four Announcements
Una traducción al español está abajo.
1. Recently I sent a message about BMS t-shirts for sale – they make great gifts – and/or get one or more for yourself!
If you missed the information, it can be found here:
https://bmsprincipalsmessage.weebly.com/120318-burley-t-shirts.html
2. Our Media Center is hosting a Book Fair all day at Barnes & Noble this Saturday, December 8. If you’re in the area on Saturday, please stop in and buy a book or three to help the cause!
3. We will be having a canned food drive next week through homerooms. The drive starts Monday, 12/10, and the homeroom that brings in the most food will win a pizza party. I will send out more details this weekend.
4. At some point in the near future, I will send out additional information on keeping up with your student’s use of social media. For now, let me suggest that you review the accounts that are on your students phone – for example Instagram or Snap Chat.
How many followers do they have – and who are they? How many accounts are they following – and who are they? Are they following specific hashtags? How many accounts does your student have, and what do they post? Are the accounts public or private?
Today I became of aware of a now-deleted Instagram account called “heyyall_bms_expoe” (I believe they person meant to use the word “expose,” but it was spell “expoe”).
In this case, the account was meant to be mean-spirited, and I receive screen shots of various comments made by individuals – though in many cases it is difficult to determine who the people are (are they all even BMS students?) because individuals do NOT have to use their true names on Instagram.
Anyway, the account has been deleted, and I spoke to various students about this. For now, I just want to remind you to take time now and then to review your student’s accounts if he or she uses any sort of social media.
https://bmsprincipalsmessage.weebly.com/120318-burley-t-shirts.html
