End of Year Info
1. If your student has completed all assignments from 4/13 through 5/22, then your students is done for the summer! If additional time is needed, students can complete work through this Friday, 5/29, or even next Friday, 6/5.
2. CONGRATULATIONS to our 8th graders who have now completed middle school, and they are moving up to high school! Hopefully we can plan a time in the fall to come together for a picnic or some event – we’ll see what happens over the course of the next few months. We will mail certificates out on or around June 5th.
3. I have posted some tributes to our 8th graders on Instagram. Check it out at @BurleyPics, or search the hashtag #BMSBears2020.
4. Mr. Hipple, our Medial Specialist, has put together a Summer Recommended Reading list for students that highlights some of the best/most popular books we ordered this year and also goes through the ACPS Overdrive ebook library to pick out the best books for middle school. Mr. Hipple’s list is attached.
5. Attention parents of rising 7th graders: . In previous years, the TDAP immunization (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) was required before entry into sixth grade. This year, students are required to receive the Tdap booster prior to entry into seventh grade. See the attached letter for important information about this.
6. One day soon I will send information about how to return school property to BMS. For example, library books, musical instruments, dresses from the choral program, Language Arts novels, calculators, etc. This will occur at some point after the Governor’s stay-at-home order. I only mention it now so that you can discuss with your student any school property he/she might have to return. Laptops can be returned, but they can also be kept over the summer. Details on laptops are HERE.
