A couple of Updates
Happy Friday, everyone!
I understand that my messages now go to the families of the 6th, 7th, and 8th graders for 2020/2021, so welcome to all of you who are parents of rising 6th graders, our Burley Bear Cubs!
You might have heard that I am retiring; however, I am working through July and August to build the master schedule, develop bell schedules for next year, plan for the various scenarios, and so on, so that Burley can have as smooth a transition as possible when a new principal is named.
A couple of updates for parents of rising 7th and 8th graders:
1. Concerning the refund for the cancelled band/chorus trip to Philadelphia, we are still working with World Strides to resolve that (some of the money came back to us this month), so the latest information is linked HERE. Look for the highlighted section that begins “Update as of 7/17/20.”
2. If you have not picked up the yearbook you ordered, I did mail copies to the 8th graders (i.e. rising 9th graders), but I was a bit surprised to learn that the cost to mail them was 8.25 per envelope. Sooo…in an effort to save money, if your rising 7th or 8th grade student ordered a yearbook, please stop by the BMS main office any day between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to pick up your copy.
For parents of rising 6th graders:
I will send out a message next week about some Zoom sessions I will host where I will discuss how the class and block schedules at Burley work and more. At some point I’ll let you know how and when you can visit the building (probably through a Sign-Up Genius) since the coronavirus has played havoc with our normal transition activities. At this point our building custodians are in the middle of waxing all of the floors, so opportunities to visit the building will occur when all of that work has been completed.
In the meantime, if you have particular questions, please let me know.
Have a great weekend – and stay healthy!
