Updates & Announcements
1. Reminders re: COVID-19:
* If your child is sick, please keep him/her at home.
* The Albemarle County Public Schools Management Plan for COVID-19 is HERE.
2. From our School Testing Coordinator regarding upcoming SOL tests:
Hello, parents of Burley students. We wanted to make you aware that all students will be taking the SOL tests in May according to the following schedule.
May 11 Math 8/Algebra
May 12 Reading 6
May 13 Reading 7
May 14 Reading 8
May 18 Science 8
May 19 Math 6
May 20 Math 7 (includes Math 6 Honors)
May 21 Civics and Economics (Grade 8)
May 26 Geometry
Please avoid scheduling appointments for your child on days they are scheduled to test so that they can test with their peers.
In addition, 8th graders will be taking the Writing SOL on March 17 and 18. Please help your children to do their best on the tests by encouraging them to get a good night’s sleep and eat breakfast before the tests! Also, students will be using their school-assigned laptops to take the test so it is important that they bring their laptops to school, fully charged. If you could help them remember to plug their computers in to charge on the nights before their tests, that would be very helpful! They should also bring their computer chargers to school on the days they will be testing. If your child has lost his/her charger, a new one can be purchased by sending in a check for $27.50 (made out to Burley Middle School).
Any student who is late, absent, or picked up early, will not be able to test with his peers on the scheduled testing day.
Lastly, cell phones are not allowed in the testing locations, so students need to leave their phones at home or in their lockers. Thank you!
3. I have attached registration information for both Burley Track and Field and spring Cross Country.
Our track team is also offering a hoodie for sale. Anyone can order a hoodie (even if a person is not on the team). NOTE: The order form for the hoodie is at the bottom of the attachment for Track & XC registration.
The price for sizes S, M, L, and XL is 15.95. XXL and up is 17.95.
Please do not include the Hoodie price in a student`s Track registration. The hoodie request is separate, and checks should be made out to Burley Middle School.

¡Gracias!
